Law Of Attraction And The Ego

There is a great power in the concept of the law of attraction, which has also been expressed in terms such as ‘magnetic centre’, ‘attractive force’, ‘the power of the mind’, and many others.

The danger of the modern concept of the law of attraction (loa) is that it professes that you have incredible power, even that of God. You can bring anything to you, make anything happen, the world, and even the universe, will bend and bow to your desires.

This is in fact what the concept teaches even in the oldest reference to it that I have found, the Hermetica, which is dated at approximately 3000 years old. However, there is a warning that comes along which is the danger of wielding such power without the proper state of mind.

Imagine what you could to other and yourself if you had unlimited power to make anything happen but have not mastered your ego and developed wisdom, another hitler in the making!

Because of this danger, mastering the power is very difficult, and has a prerequisite, that of first mastering the ego. My attitude has developed after many years of great success in making miraculous things happen, and then seeing the dangerous potential of this power on other people.

This article is about the preparatory work that must be done before we can be safely entrusted with the power of manifestation, and to discuss the problems with the contemporary enthusiasm with the loa.

Let us put aside the greater dangers of how we may hurt anyone else and focus on ourselves. As we have said in the previous article; Which Is Better To Pursue; Enlightenment Or Emotional Independence, our work is in mastering the ego. The first step in that process is to stop doing things which build the ego.

The concept of the loa is that you draw things to you, making people or opportunities come to you when they otherwise would not.

My first impression is that it implies you who believes you can draw other people to you have professed that you are more important and powerful than they are, thus they will come to you rather than do what they want.

When we build our life based on concepts which increase our feeling of self-importance to often compensate for our deeper feelings of inadequacy, we become even more emotionally delicate. As soon as we are shown a flaw in our beliefs, a negative emotional reaction will take over and balance is lost.

I personally have experienced so many events in my life that to deny there are forces beyond what we see in material form would be ludicrous. The difference is that I do not feel I made things happen. Things happen all the time, the key is being able to see what is happening and take action to grab it.

It is the courage to take chances and make bold moves that people lack. It is far easier to believe that you can sit back and think, and everything will come to you. If you or anyone you know insists that this is true, please answer why all the people with the same belief have not won the lottery?

Why we lack this courage is the next question. Nothing in this world is totally independent, all things have a counterpart or preliminary cause in some form. The counterpart to courage is confidence. One cannot be had without the other.

If we want courage, we must first acquire confidence. Confidence is a byproduct of strength of character. When you know who you are and are not hiding behind some false image of yourself, you will have the confidence which makes you unshakable, and the courage to take chances and grab opportunities as they arise. Thus you do not depend on the loa or the universe to deliver cheques in your mailbox without working for them. Rather, you will take the necessary action to earn the money you desire step by step, or approach the person sitting at the next table in the cafe who you feel attracted to.

The bigger one’s ego, the less confidence one will have. The principle is simply that the more you try to present yourself as something you are not, even subconsciously, the more fear you will have of being caught out and embarrassed. Thus you will not have the confidence to open your heart and try without fear of failure or rejection. You may not know this is what you are doing, but your confidence is the test and proof.

Being emotionally independent is required to being a wise risk taker. What do you have to lose? Your money? If you made it once, you know you can make it again. Your ego by being rejected? If you do not have a big ego, there is nothing to reject, and like a cloud, you just move on without being damaged.

The loa in the way it is often followed builds the ego into thinking you can make anything happen just by your thought. I agree that our thoughts are immensely powerful, however the fail safe is that the ego must first be mastered. Without that mastery, success in manifestation is rare.

In our school we work on mastering the ego, which brings equanimity and emotional independence. With that, we can use wisdom to know how to use our mind and the loa in harmony which means knowing the difference between what I made happen and what just happens that I happen to be around and grab.

Life is not happening to you, you are just in the middle of the ocean and must navigate the storms and the calm seas equally in order to get to your destination safely. Nature creates the weather, the wise person knows how to flow along with the weather and events of life rather than think that it is all created just for you. If you believe it is for you by your own power, the results are either a very big ego or depression by feeling the world is just out to get you, depending on how things work out.

Our thoughts are indeed the cause of many events in our life, but how this process happens is very important to understand if you want to change your life. Anger is known to blind a person from seeing reason, fear can paralyse, Love can inspire, feeling supported by good friends can build confidence and depression is a powerful excavator of deep, dark holes.

It is not that we bring things to us, but rather that we must focus our mind and cultivate awareness by on a particular thing, and with humility, gratefully jump to accept what good fortune flows our way, or dodge dangers.

Make your mind strong and ego mastered in being the iron that flows to the magnet rather than seeing yourself as the magnet which controls the universe and you will find the loa begins to work more consistently in your life, for good things and not bad. Even if you do not get what you want, you will find that you will gain a lot more respect from other people.

Restaurant Digital Signage Will Help 200,000 Outlets Defeat New Law

With the topical Federal endorsement of the recent food labeling bill, that is said to effect in the region of 200,000 outlets and QSR (Quick Serve Outlets) in America, but electronic signage is here to assist bistro owners defeat this issue.

This act was accepted on 23 March 2010 and the gist of it is: all food nutritional information is to be displayed on standard menus for any chain of restaurants with 20 or more stores. Not only will the QSR outlets suffer but it will also have an effect on the food supply company, trains and even air ways. Don’t forget the guy who bought into the franchise for a burger van – everyone will have to comply with this new law.

The law comprises of three portions

1) The calorific value for each menu item has to be declared on all menus, from inside the outlet, take out menu and even on the outlets web menu.

2) The menu must affirm how the menu item can be used in somebody’s every day calorie intake.

3) Supplementary data must be available upon demand

Here are a few of the conditions for displaying the above data.

The font size for the nutritional data must be the matching size and color as the item name and cost listed on the menu and this must be in place by March 2011.

But what most hectic cafe vendor has now to do, is chase their vendors for this information as well as keep running their busy eateries, then when they acquire the data they can add it to their menu. Restaurant owners will have to invest in new equipment to manage portion control and how will any restaurant present this additional information, attractively?

Could this spell the end of the printed menu? As many cafe proprietors see that a static printed menu is not part of their business model for the future. They need something that the content can be changed right away, no wonder eaterie owners are researching digital menu boards as a promising solution.

A digital poster can be set up to update content on a daily basis so all the nutritional information is precise and if any modifications need to be made to the menu, these can be done instantly with negligible effect, as opposed to printed menus; any immediate changes would take a number of days and cost a lot more capital.

Non-Smoker’s Guide to Europe’s Smoking Laws

Here is the rundown on the smoking rules in European countries. We are always on the lookout for countries that have decided to go smoke-free or at least make it easier for non-smokers to eat out.

The Austrian republic is one of Europe’s last refuges for smokers; it is still resisting the smoking bans in effect in other EU countries. However, the state-run railways OeBB have been non-smoking from September 1, 2007. Austria’s Health Minister Andrea Kdolsky is considering introducing smoking rules in restaurants and cafes by 2008. A 2005 law that forbids smoking in public places ( but specifically excludes cafes and restaurants) would be reinforced from January 1, 2008 to require larger restaurants to split their dining areas 50-50 between smoking and non-smoking sections. Smaller eateries would have to decide whether they were smoking or non-smoking establishments and put up a sign declaring their choice.

As of September 1, 2007, smoking is banned in public places in all of Germany. But local laws regulate smoking in restaurants and cafes in their own jurisdiction, so you will see some differences in how the law is carried out by each German state.German trains and train stations however, have banned smoking entirely. Some of the larger train stations have special smoking rooms available for those who need their nicotine fix before or after their smoke-free voyage.

In 2004, Ireland became the first country in the world to impose an outright ban on smoking in workplaces. Irish legislation makes it an offence to smoke in workplaces, which effectively bans smoking in pubs and restaurants.

An official ban on smoking in all enclosed public places was imposed in Italy on January 10, 2005. This law obliges restaurants, bars, offices and factories to prohibit tobacco use on their premises unless they are able to provide special sealed off rooms with smoke extractors. Because few retailers were able to fulfill this condition, it is now practically impossible to smoke in any public place. A fine of up to 2,000 Euros could be levied on businesses which fail to comply with this law. And smokers may be fined up to 275 Euros which can be doubled if a smoker lights up in front of children or pregnant women.

Except in designated smoking zones, smoking is not permitted indoors in public buildings and other places open to the public. Smoking zones are not available in facilities for children and other persons under eighteen. Smoking is also prohibited on trains, trams, buses or aircraft, schools and other educational institutions, offices and other places of work.

Since February 1, 2007 smoking was banned in workplaces and other public buildings and will expand in 2008 to include cafes, restaurants and bars. Many restaurants have already become smoke-free or offer non-smoking sections.

The Netherlands

On January 1, 2004, cigarettes were banned from many public places including railway stations, trains, toilets and offices.

A national ban was imposed on smoking in restaurants, bars and cafes from June 1, 2004

Since May, 2005 smoking has been prohibited in all bars and restaurants. Establishments wanting to allow smoking are required to have a closed-off section with specially-designed ventilation, where no food or drink can be served.

United Kingdom

Smoking is banned in nearly all enclosed public spaces – including bars, restaurants and workplaces. The ban came into effect in England on July 1, 2006. Scotland introduced a ban in March 2006, followed by Wales and Northern Ireland in April 2007.

Law of Attraction – Good Vibrations

“Good, good, good, good vibrations… I’m picking up good vibrations.” – Beach Boys

It’s All About the Vibe. When the Beach Boys’ song, Good Vibrations, topped the pop charts in 1966, the concept of Energy and vibrations was still fairly new to most people. Forty years later, more and more people are coming to understand that it’s all about the vibe. And more and more people are coming to understand the Law of Attraction and how our vibrations determine whether we’re attracting into our lives what we want or what we don’t want.

Every thought, every feeling, every person, every thing is Energy, which vibrates and radiates a signal. According to the Law of Attraction, as these signals are transmitted, signals of the same frequency are magnetically attracted back to the sender. For example, your dominant vibration, which is formed as a result of your thoughts and feelings, attracts an identical frequency from the Universe. What you experience, therefore, is always a vibrational match to your dominant vibration. To align vibrationally with your desire, the most important thing is to feel good. Feeling good = good vibrations.

Choose Thoughts that Feel Good. The trick is to pay attention to how you feel because your feelings give you feedback about what you’re attracting and creating. If a thought feels good, you’re in the process of attracting what you do want. If a thought feels bad, you’re in the process of attracting people and circumstances that you do not want.

Many people have habits of thought that do not feel good and do not serve them well – for example, worrying about not having enough money or fearing illness and decline. Once you understand what your feelings are telling you, it’s just a matter of choosing thoughts that feel good (such as joy, love, empowerment, freedom, and appreciation) over thoughts that feel bad (such as fear, despair, powerlessness, anger, and worry). As you gently and consistently choose better feeling thoughts, your life will improve on every level.

“Reach for thoughts that feel good so that what comes always feels good.” – Abraham-Hicks

Take-Home Message. When you focus on feeling good and visualizing your life the way you want it to be, you raise your vibration so that it aligns with your desires and attracts what you want. Here’s the take-home message regarding vibrations:

To attract what you DO want and avoid attracting what you DO NOT want – Choose Good Vibrations – Choose Thoughts that Feel Good!
